Date: Friday, October 19, 2018 Time: 9:15 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Location: Berkeley College, 64 East Midland Avenue, Paramus, NJ 07652 Room: 124 Join us for our NJC3 fall event where Lawrese Brown will lead us in a soft-skills training on How Communication, Collaboration and Creative Thinking Apply to NJ's Top 5 Industries & How We Can Support Students in Developing These Skills in Academia, Extra-Curricular, and Experiential Education. Participants will learn: The soft-skill expectations employers have for entry-level talent What activities and strategies career and corporate learning professionals can use to develop students' communication, collaboration and creative thinking skills How students can leverage and connect their experiences from retail, hospitality, and other customer service driven industries to other industries How students can better take advantage of opportunities to engage with employers (from career fairs, recruitment events, on-campus meetings) so that they can stand out and make more quality first impressions After lunch, Lawrese will lead an application/networking activity on "21st Century Talent Development: New Ways to Demonstrate Evidence of Experience." Presenter: Lawrese Brown is the founder of C-Track. She's equipped thousands of students with the soft-skills skills employers most care about through programming and products delivered in partnership with non-profit organizations, community colleges and high schools. She has a Masters in Educational, Leadership, Advocacy & Politics from NYU and is an active member of New Jersey Business and Industry Association's Post Secondary Taskforce which brings together the public and private sector to have conversations about preparing NJ's future workforce. She also has the same birthday as Oprah. Agenda: 9:15 - 9:45: Registration (coffee & tea available) 9:45 - 10:00: Opening Remarks/Introductions 10:00 - 11:15: Soft-Skills Training led by Lawrese Brown 11:15 - 12:15: Lunch/Brunch 12:15 - 1:00: Networking & Application Activity 1:00: End Who Can Attend: This event is open to members, employer members, graduate students and non-members. Registration Type Registration Fee Members $35.00 Non-Members $50.00 Students Free PARKING: Parking is located in the front of the building. All guests may park in any available opening. CANCELLATION POLICY: Should you wish to cancel your registration, you must do so at least seven business days prior to the event in order to receive a full refund. If a written cancellation request is not received by seven or more business days prior to the event, the registrant will be liable for the entirety of the registration fee, regardless of attendance or absence from the scheduled event. Any cancellation request received fewer than seven business days prior to a scheduled event (or after the event date has passed) due to an extenuating circumstance may be reviewed by the President who in turn will recommend the appropriate refund and action to the VP of Finance and Membership. REGISTRATION:Registration will not be permitted at the door.
